Underwater Light Fixtures
Light fixtures
typically divide themselves into several categories:
 | Line voltage AC - 120 Volt, typically PAR 38/56 or
T4 lamps, 100 to 1000 Watts, requires GFCI |
| Low Voltage DC - 12 or 24 Volt, various LED in
single or RGB color, 3 to 70 Watts |
Various mounting styles:
| Freestanding - Base and yolk mount |
| Wet niche - With a stainless forming
shell for flush installation in concrete |
Materials and applications:
| Plastic, fresh water mid-grade stainless and
brass, saltwater bronze and high grade stainless |
| Submersible only, or wet/dry listed, for
use in or out of the water |
Incandescent lamps typically have a life
expectancy of 2,000 hours for standard lamps up to 4,000 for some quartz
halogen types. LEDs typically have a 50,000 hour half-life,
making them the choice for reduced maintenance.
LEDs have several times the efficiency
of an incandescent lamp. While no LED is going to compete with the
raw candlepower of a 500W Par 56 white spot, when colors are
concerned LEDs can be far more effective. In addition, LEDs can be
mounted close to, or above the water surface, further improving output by
reducing absorption. As always, for more specifics, give us a call.
